personnel / recruitment and HR agencies please read this before contacting us - Latest

Notes for all HR/recruitment agencies to read BEFORE contacting us.

We never contract agencies to fill posts as

(a)  we recruit from the widest possible range of applicants to meet our equality and diversity policy.

(b) we cannot use the FULL services of HR agencies because we always carry out our own process 'in-house'.

We carry out the following 'in-house'

ü Shortlisting from application forms

ü Interview and final interview

ü Youth panel

ü Job trial/test

ü Identity checks, right to work in UK, qualification checks

ü Enhanced DBS disclosures [for ALL staff, volunteers & trustees] working with VA and CYP [quickly completed using our on-line system]

ü Confidential written references – including letters, faxes, emails and follow up phone calls

ü Background checks etc

ü Further checks for company directors / charity trustees

We ask referees and candidates to be very honest and highlight any potential area of concern we might need to monitor, manage or supervise.  Issues or concerns can be flagged up in strictest confidence by phone, fax, email, text, letter or meeting. Written references provided to us are NEVER disclosed to the applicant or any third party unless required by court order.  These are far more useful than references provided via any agency / third party.

We complete all these 'in-house' to fully meet our safeguarding policy - working with very vulnerable young people and adults.  Police, employers, referees and other agencies who work with us can be more open with us about confidential issues that affect our safer recruiting.

We NEVER accept a reference or DBS/CRB disclosure passed on by a candidate, recruitment agency, previous employer or any other third party.

However, we often have vacancies and would not want you or your candidates to miss out on the chance to make a real difference in our community.

Job adverts are on our website - with some job alerts on twitter, facebook, linkedin, local media, blog and for Job adverts

  We are open to

ü Internships with scope for developing skills and experience in events, finance, Comms, FR, HR, PA and front line work in housing, support, mentoring, tutoring, training (construction), retail, business skills, and more

ü Volunteers

ü Board advisors or members to enhance the board skill mix

We are always pleased to hear from HR agencies willing to circulate our job / intern / volunteer / trustee adverts to suitable clients – but are unable to pay for this.

If any of your clients or contacts are interested in working with us we are happy to hear from you or them – but will only consider them if they complete our application forms to ensure diversity & equality – see links at
to download in word or PDF.

Their application form or covering email should state if an agency introduced them.  We can accept our application forms via agencies so long as we can contact your clients directly with follow up questions/invitation to interview.

If you assist us in this way you could secure a finders fee of £200 to £400 for anyone we appoint as a result of your recommendation, contacts OR advertising (payable after 4 weeks in post).  We know this is not your normal business model but several agencies enjoy working with us like this – especially as your workload is minimal.  Send questions or application forms to with the position and applicant name in the email subject line.

By sending any application forms, CVs [which we do NOT read] or client contact details you are confirming you accept these arrangements.

Agencies who send us candidate details are assumed to have done their homework on our requirements [current job opportunities and these terms of business]

We never read or keep CVs

We delete details sent for posts we are not recruiting.  Persistent time-wasters are blocked by our IT systems.

We do not offer exclusive deals to any HR agency.

We will only pay a modest finders fee - if you signpost someone to us who we employ [payable after 4 weeks in post] as we have to carry out 95% of all recruitment / vetting process in-house.
