Rob joined the YMCA - initially as a volunteer for few days - in 2004.
As CEO he helps lead, develop and grow the charity, supporting clients, staff and trustees to improve our impact. Apart from 'boring' bits like insurance, contracts he leads on relationships with other charities, councils, funders, churches & supporters; as well as being our lead for all safeguarding policy, training and reporting.
Rob values and enjoys every chance to support staff, volunteers & clients - seeing them empowered to develop their full potential in life. The best advice he's been given and often gives is: it’s OK to ‘not be OK’ or to be angry… but think about getting some support to help you find the best way forward to use those feelings positively.
Rob is involved as a volunteer in other youth work, education, and his local church [some links below] and is always happy to support those fleeing domestic abuse, veterans or those struggling with mental health issues or anger.
He's also a doting husband, dad, grandparent & dog (Westie) owner; has an adopted adult son in Azerbaijan [it's a long story] and enjoys mountain biking, rock climbing, canoeing, offshore sailing, reading, DIY, camping & eating. He is still under training to be remotely useful in the garden or kitchen!
