Like any charity we are dependent on a dedicated team of volunteers who are our Charity Trustees.
As we are incorporated, as a company limited by Guarantee, they are also our Company Directors [again entirely unpaid]
As a Board they exercise ultimate control or governance of the Charity and Trading Company and how we meet our charitable objects and legal requirements.
You can always check who our current trustees are on the Charity Commission website or Companies House. They are also listed in our Trustees Annual Report
If you have governance experience or skills [such as HR, legal, property surveyor, housing/development, youth work, education, business development] and would like to be considered for a role on our board please contact the CEO informally or email your CV or background to Chair@WestKentYMCA.org.uk for an informal discussion in the first instance.
Trustees are expected to fully support the Christian ethos of the Charity, and abide by the board code of conduct, conflict of interest policy and other staff & volunteer policies. Trustees need references, an enhanced DBS disclosure and must not be barred [from working with children or vulnerable adults, or being a charity trustee or a company director].
Trustees give a lot of time & effort as key volunteers - rewarded by knowing their work is making a big difference in our community and for young people in need.
